BOSTON – Four America East teams picked up wins last week with Vermont improving to 8-6. UAlbany, UMass Lowell and UNH also earned victories.
Need to Know
- Vermont beat Siena, 83-69, on Wednesday. Gus Yalden poured in a career-high 29 points to lead the Catamounts. He earned America East Player of the Week honors as a result.
- Austin Green’s double-double of 22 points and 14 boards led UMass Lowell to an 87-83 win over Sacred Heart on Tuesday.
- UNH earned a hard-fought 59-58 win over Stonehill on Wednesday. Comeh Emuobor sank two free throws in the final minute to give the Wildcats the advantage for good. He had a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards.
- UAlbany held Stony Brook to just 32 percent shooting in a 71-55 win over the Seawolves on Wednesday. Amir Lindsey 24 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead the way.
- Just four games take place this week with teams breaking for Christmas. NJIT visits Butler on Monday while Bryant heads to High Point. On Tuesday, Binghamton plays at Army in a noon time matinee. Bryant is in action again on Sunday vs. Worcester State.
- Vermont’s Gus Yalden leads the conference averaging 17.4 points per game.
- Conference play kicks off with four games on Saturday, Jan. 3. UNH hosts Vermont, UAlbany heads to UMass Lowell, Maine entertains Bryant and NJIT visits Binghamton.

Gus Yalden, Vermont - So., Forward, Appleton, Wis.
- Averaged 26.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week.
- Shot 59 percent from the field (19-of-32).
- Scored a career-best 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting in a win over Siena on Wednesday.
- Had 24 points and seven boards in a tight loss vs. Iona on Saturday.
- This is Yalden’s second #AEHoops Player of the Week honor of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Jake Blackburn, Binghamton – Fr., Guard, Southborough, Mass.
- Averaged 8.5 points in two games last week.
- Had a career-best 12 points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting at Pitt.
- This is Blackburn’s first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
