Men's #AEHoops Week 5: Five Teams Earn Non-League Wins

BOSTON – Five America East teams picked up wins last week with UMBC and Vermont leading the way. The Retrievers and Catamounts both reached six wins with victories over Bucknell and Pepperdine, respectively. Binghamton, Bryant and UNH also earned wins.
 
Need to Know
  • Vermont beat Pepperdine on Saturday, 65-56. TJ Hurley and David Simon each had 18 points to lead the Catamounts.
  • UMBC won at Bucknell on Saturday, 73-66, behind 20 points from Jah'Likai King, who earned America East Player of the Week honors as a result.
  • Ty Tabales, the #AEHoops Rookie of the Week, tallied 18 points and seven assists in Bryant's win vs. Stonehill. 
  • UNH completed one of the largest comebacks of the season as the Wildcats rallied from 25 points down in the second half to beat Boston U., 88-82 in overtime.
  • Binghamton picked up its first Division I win of the season by beating Lehigh on Tuesday, 80-71.Zyier Beverly had 25 points and eight boards to lead the way.
  • Fourteen more games take pace this weekend.
  • The men’s preseason poll and All-Conference team was announced on Oct. 20

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. 2025-26 Weekly Award Winners (Dec. 8)
Player of the Week

Jah’Likai King, UMBC – Jr., Guard, Newburgh, N.Y.
  • Averaged 19.5 points in a 1-1 week for UMBC.
  • Shot 54 percent from the field (14-for-26).
  • Had 19 points in a nine-point loss at Big East-foe Georgetown on Wednesday.
  • Scored a game-high 20 points in a win over Bucknell on Saturday.
  • This is King’s first career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week

Ty Tabales, Bryant – Fr., Guard, Worcester, Mass.
  • Averaged 18.5 points and 4.0 assists in a pair of games.
  • Had 18 points and seven assists in win over Stonehill on Tuesday.
  • Had 19 points vs. Brown on Friday.
  • This is Tabales’ second-straight #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
