Men’s #AEHoops Week 3: Tight Contests Around the League

BOSTON – A pair of programs earned wins last week and a number of other programs pushed teams to the brink a tough week of action for the America East.
 
Need to Know
  • Vermont nearly took Buffalo from the ranks of the unbeaten, falling 94-90 on the road.
  • The River Hawks played a pair of tight contests, leading in most of its game against Bradley before falling 87-77 and then dropping a two-point contest at Saint Peter’s.
  • Bryant went 0-2, pushing Virginia Tech before ultimately losing 78-61 and then falling at UConn 72-49 Sunday night.
  • Maine dropped tight contests to Merrimack (72-65) and Brown (58-53).
  • The men’s preseason poll and All-Conference team was announced on Oct. 20
  • This week Vermont will play in the ESPN Events Invitational Tournament, starting Monday at 1:30 pm against Liberty on ESPNU. The Catamounts will also play Tuesday and Wednesday in the tournament.
  • NJIT plays at No. 6 Louisville at Wednesday night and also at Cincinnati on Monday evening.
  • UAlbany heads to Laval, Quebec for three games in the Northern Classic at the end of the week.

Fans will once again be able to watch every #AEHoops game this season regardless of where they live! The majority games will air on The AE on ESPN, either ESPN+, in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

 
2024-25 Weekly Award Winners (Nov. 24)
Player of the Week

TJ Hurley, Vermont – Gr., Guard, Pelham, Ont.
  • Put up 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a four-point loss at Buffalo.
  • Hit four threes and went 8-for-9 at the charity stripe.
  • This is Hurley’s first #AEHoops Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week

JJ Massaquoi, UMass Lowell – Fr., Guard, Prince George’s County, Md.
  • Averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
  • Had 18 points, four rebounds and two assists in a two-point loss to Saint Peter’s
  • This is Massaquoi’s first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
