BOSTON – It was a successful showing for the seven America East teams who traveled to the Paul Short Run over the weekend.
The UMass Lowell men’s cross country team took 14
th place Paul Short Run Gold Race as multiple runners who finished in the top 100. Amongst the top finishers was senior, Jan Wouter Van Den Akker, he completed the course in 23:29.5 to take 11
th place while Sean Kennedy-Wonneberger had an impressive time of 24:05 for the River Hawks. Binghamton men finished third in the Brown Race, led by Robert Mayclim, who placed 10
th place with a time of 24:41.8.
On the women’s side Bryant’s Jasmine Trott finished the Paul Short Run Gold 6k in 36th place with a time of 20:34.7. New Hampshire placed eighth in the Women’s Brown Race with Ruth White capturing her third win of the 2025 season with a time of 20:29.4. Sydney Leitner of Binghamton finished 12
th in the race with an average mile time of 5:42.2.
With only a few weeks left before the America East Cross Country Championship, multiple teams are hitting the road. Bryant, UMass Lowell, Vermont, Maine, UAlbany, and New Hampshire will travel to Contoocook, New Hampshire for the New England Championships, the same location the #AEXC Championship will be held on Oct. 31.

Female Performer of the Week
Ruth White, New Hampshire – So., Orono, Maine
- Registered her third win of the season in the Women’s 6k Brown Race at Paul Short Run.
- Completed the 6k course in time of 20:29.4 and a pace of 5:29.7.
- Earned third career #AEXC Performer of the Week honor.
Female Rookie of the Week
Jessie Fotheringham, NJIT – Fr., Tamworth, NSW, Australia
- Earned her second straight top 10 finish this season.
- Ran a personal-best 6K time of 21.14.1 to finish eighth at the Paul Short Invitational.
- Fotheringham currently owns the highest individual finish at the Paul Short Invitational in program history
- This is Fotheringham’s second #AEXC Rookie of the Week honor.
Male Performer of the Week

- Finished 11th in the Men’s Gold Race at the Paul Short Run with an 8k time of 23:29.5.
- He completed the course at a 4:43.5 pace.
- This is Akker's first Performer of the Week honor this year.
Male Rookie of the Week
Will Conklin, UMass Lowell – Fr., Danvers, Mass.
- Finished in 122nd out of 344 finishers with a personal-best 24:38.9 mark.
- This is Conklin’s first Rookie of the Week honor.
