BOSTON – Multiple schools returned to competition last week, with many finding great success in the new year.
Bryant hosted the Bryant Indoor Throws Competition where the women throwers came in first ahead of five other schools while the men’s team finished in second. Bryant's Panayiota Anastos finished first in shot put with a mark of 12.51 meters. For men, Mike O’Reilly earned first place in discus with a 45.74-meter throw. UMBC men’s track team traveled to the VCU Indoor Invitational and secured first place in four events with multiple strong performances. Jacob Martin won individual gold and also won the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:19.13 for UMBC. UMass Lowell and Vermont competed at Dartmouth in the Ivy League versus America East Challenge. Both squads started the year strong with a second and third place finish (49 points and 32 points).
Our track and field teams look to continue success in the new year as seven programs will travel over the weekend for competition. UAlbany will be at the Ramapo Season Opener on Friday while NJIT, UMBC, UMass Lowell, Vermont, Bryant, and Binghamton hit the road on Saturday.
