BOSTON – It was a busy weekend for seven #AETF programs hit the road for competition with just one month until the conference championship takes place.
UAlbany competed in the Ramapo Season Opener where they had multiple first place finishes. Adaliz Hunt won gold in the 60 meters with a time of 7.50, while Ryan Stark entered the programs top ten with a 3.50-meter pole vault. NJIT shattered records along the way at the Gotham Cup and the Wagner Invitational. Caleb Duvelson set a 15-year old school record with a shot-put throw of 15.48 meters and Jessie Fotheringham broke the 1,000-meter program record with a personal-best of 2:50.56.
As for the Retrievers, three more school records were broken on the women’s side. UMBC’s Marie Abongwa, Katie Schwaner, and Enazajah Young each broke program records on Saturday at the Nittany Lion Challenge. Bryant had a successful run at the URI Invitational as Chloe Whiting picked up another win with a time of 9:44.10 in the 3000 meters.
Another weekend of action kicks off on Friday with NJIT and UMBC competing at the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational while UMass Lowell is at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invite. On Saturday, UAlbany, Bryant, Vermont, and Binghamton hit the road for additional competition.

Male Field Athlete of the Week
Frankie Gonzalez, UAlbany – Sr., Clifton, New Jersey
- Secured second place in shot put at the Ramapo Season Opener with a throw of 16.03 meters.
- Currently ranks fourth in the conference in shot put and 20th in the Northeast.
- This is Gonzalez’s first #AETF Field Athlete of the Week honor this year.
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Weston Carr, UMBC – So., Mechanicsville, Md.
- Carr took home second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.49.
- Currently has the fastest 800m time in the conference and is ranked 34th in the country.
- This is Carr’s first indoor #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor.
Male Rookie Athlete of the Week
Cassian Holland-Moritz, NJIT – Fr., Munich, Germany
- Ran a season-best in the 200 meter with a time of 22.06 to take second place at the Wagner Invitational.
- Won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:17.96 at the Wagner Invitational, which ranks third in the conference.
- His 200m time ranks third in the conference and first among all freshmen.
- This is Martin’s second indoor #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor
Female Field Athlete of the Week
Marie Abongwa, UMBC – Sr., Bowie, Md.
- Abongwa took silver in the weight throw while setting a new school record with a throw of 18.35 meters.
- Currently ranks second in the conference.
- This is Abongwa’s first #AETF weekly honor of the year.
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Hayley Lucido, NJIT– Jr., Middletown, Md.
- Ran a personal-best of 1:15.16 in the 500 meter to take second place at the Wagner Invitational.
- Currently leads the conference in the 500 meter
- Took home first place in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:55.22.
- This is Lucido’s first #AETF weekly honor.
Female Rookie Athlete of the Week
Enazajah Young, UMBC – Fr., New Market, Md.
- Young broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.35.
- Currently remains top 40 in the country and top in the conference in the 60m hurdles.
- This is Young's third #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor of the year.
