#AETF Week 2: Multiple Schools Close Out the Year with School Records & Personal Bests

BOSTON – Three schools wrapped up 2025 with more records and breakthrough performances.

UMass Lowell traveled to the Dartmouth invite where both Brandon Riley and Derek Munroe broke the school heptathlon record. NJIT had multiple top five finishes, including freshman Moustafa Abdelaal, who set the 600m school record with a time of 1:21.30. Maine wrapped up the year at the Black Bear Invitational, where many athletes secured first place. Kaleb Colson, of Maine, currently ranks 36th nationally in the mile after taking home gold with a 4:09.08 finish.

Our track and field teams head into break for the reminder of the year and look to start fresh in 2026. The next competition will be Bryant competing on January 7th, followed by the VCU invite on January 9th that UMBC will travel to.

Male Field Athlete of the Week
Brandon Riley, UMass Lowell – Jr., Weymouth, Mass
  • Riley broke the school record in the heptathlon this week
  • He totaled 5,241 points and hit personal records in the 60m hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000m.
  • This is Riley's first career #AETF Field Athlete of the Week honor

Male Track Athlete of the Week
Charlie Collins, Maine – Jr., Hampden, Maine 
  • Collins took home two top two finishes at the Black Bear Invitational
  • Finished first in the 3,000m with a time of 8:32.35 and secured second place with a mile time of 4:09.88.
  • This is Collin’s first indoor #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor
 
Male Rookie of the Week
Matin Mahmoud, NJIT – Fr., Lawrence Township, NJ
  • Finished second in the triple jump with a personal-best of 14.57m, which ranks fourth in America East
  • This is his second top two finish of the season.
  • This is Mahmoud's first #AETF Rookie of the Week honor.

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Fleur Balogh de Galantha, UMass Lowell – Gr., Grafton, Mass. 
  • Balogh de Galantha finished second in the pentathlon with 3,378 points
  • Hit a personal best record in the shot put with a toss of 11.46m
  • This is Fleur Balogh de Galantha's first #AETF weekly honor.

Female Track Athlete of the Week
Bayleigh Shanahan, Maine – So., Amesbury, Mass.
  • Shanahan set two new personal records at the Black Bear Invitational.
  • Finished in first place in the 60m dash with a time of 7.97 and finished four in the 300m with a time of 43.42.
  • This is Shanahan's first #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor of the year.

Female Rookie of the Week
Nyrah Joseph, UMass Lowell – Fr., Billerica, Mass.
  • The first year finished third overall with 3,079 points in the pentathlon.
  • Joseph broke personal records in the 800m, shot put, and high jump.
  • This is Joseph’s first #AETF Track Athlete of the Week honor.
