#AEWSOC Week 7: UAlbany, Binghamton, UMass Lowell & UVM Post League Wins

BOSTON – Three teams stayed unbeaten in America East women’s soccer play as Binghamton, UMass Lowell and Vermont all picked up wins. UAlbany also earned its first conference win of the year. Ahead of the first two-game week, Binghamton sits atop the standings with six points while UMass Lowell and Vermont are tied for second with four and UAlbany and Maine each have three.  

All nine teams will play eight league games, facing every other conference opponent once with teams receiving three points for a win, one for a tie and zero for a loss. The top six teams in the standings at the end of the regular season will qualify for the 2025 America East Women’s Soccer Championship.

Need to Know
  • Binghamton outlasted Bryant, 3-2, behind two goals from Megan Baker, who earned America East Offensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts.
  • The Bearcats extended their unbeaten streak to seven games (5-0-2) and sit at No. 64 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings, the highest in the conference.
  • Gaby Eckroth’s goal lifted UMass Lowell to a 1-0 win vs. UMBC to help the River Hawks improve to 1-0-1 in league play.
  • Vermont got goals from Lauren Degroot and Madeline Gardner to beat UNH, 2-1 and go to 1-0-1 in the conference.
  • UAlbany picked up its first conference win of the season, 2-1, at NJIT. Casey Stowell's goal with just 51 seconds remaining broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Great Danes the win.
  • Maine, which was idle last week, is riding a 16-game unbeaten streak against conference foes that dates back to 2023.
  • Eight more conference games take place this week, four on Thursday and four on Sunday.
  • Maine will be home both dates and open up their brand new New Balance Complex this week.
  • The #AEWSOC preseason poll and All-Conference teams were announced on July 29. Binghamton and New Hampshire were tabbed the co-favorites - link.

Offensive Player of the Week
Megan Baker, Binghamton – Jr., Defender, Jamesville, N.Y.
  • Scored her first two goals of the season, both on penalty kicks to lift Binghamton to 3-2 win over Bryant.
  • This is Baker’s first career #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player & Rookie of the Week
Clauda Volino, UAlbany – R-Fr., GK, East Brunswick, N.J.
  • Stopped nine of 10 shots she faced to lead UAlbany to a 2-1 win over NJIT on Sunday.
  • The nine stops match her career best.
  • This is Volino’s first career #AEWSOC awards.
