MLK Day Matinee Featuring Vermont at UAlbany Will Air on ESPNU

BOSTON – Conference play in America East begins on Saturday and in a little over two weeks, fans across the country will be able to watch #AEHoops on ESPNU. ESPN has chosen the Vermont at UAlbany matchup on Monday, Jan. 19 to air nationally on ESPNU. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day matchup will be a matinee with a 1 p.m. tip off from UAlbany's state-of-the-art arena, the Broadview Center.

Vermont (8-6) leads the league in scoring averaging 78.1 points per game while UAlbany (4-10) is third scoring 75.5 per contest. This will mark the 19th-consecutive season that a men’s #AEHoops regular-season game will air on ESPNU.

The matchup will feature two of the league's fiercest rivals and most accomplished programs. Since 2003, UAlbany and Vermont have combined to win 16 of 23 conference championships. The Catamounts have won 10 straight and 19 of the last 20 meetings in the series.

The game also will showcase some of the league’s top players. UVM’s Gus Yalden leads the league in scoring averaging 17.7 points per game while UAlbany’s Amir Lindsey is second at 16.5 per game. The Catamounts’ TJ Long (6th) and TJ Hurley (8th) also rank in the top 10. Hurley, Lindsey and Long were all preseason All-Conference selections.

Conference play kicks off with four games on Saturday, Jan. 3. UNH hosts Vermont, UAlbany heads to UMass Lowell, Maine entertains Bryant and NJIT visits Binghamton. Every game matters as the top four teams in the standings at the end of the regular season earn home court advantage the Air Force Reserve #AEPlayoffs.

Fans can watch other games on ESPN+ in the United States. Games will also be available internationally on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.
