BOSTON – The defending national champion Vermont Catamounts secured the No. 1 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship, while Bryant earned a top-16 seed, No. 11 overall, for the first time in program history as the NCAA released its championship bracket on Monday afternoon.
The Catamounts seek to be the first team since Stanford in 2017 to win back-to-back national titles. Vermont is the second America East program to earn a top-four seed, joining Boston University who was a No. 2 Seed back in 1994. Bryant, meanwhile, earned the No. 11 seed, its first-ever top-16 seed as the Bulldogs seek their first NCAA DI men’s soccer postseason victory. It is the first time in conference history that two teams have been seeded.
Vermont receives a bye to the second round and will host either Syracuse (9-7-3) or Hofstra (12-5-0). The Orange and Pride will play on Thursday evening in Syracuse. The Catamounts last faced Syracuse in the 2022 NCAA quarterfinals, falling to the eventual national champions by a 2-1 margin. Vermont beat Hofstra on the road last year in the NCAA second round.
Bryant also receives a bye to the second round and will host either Seton Hall (7-3-7) or Siena (9-5-4) on Sunday at 6 p.m. The Pirates host Siena on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs made their first NCAA Tournament appearance back in 2023, falling to Yale at home. The Bulldogs went 2-0 against the Big East this year, beating Providence and UConn, while Siena tied UAlbany in its lone contest against the America East.
View the complete bracket here. This marks the fourth time in the last five years multiple America East programs have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. One team has reached the round of 16 in each of those four years.
