Men's Soccer 11/12/2025 10:19:53 PM Top Seeds Emerge Victorious in #AEMSOC Semifinals BOSTON – The top seeded Catamounts trailed 1-0 with ten minutes left in regulation but tallied the equalizer late and then won in OT to advance to the #AEMSOC Championship, where they will face off against No. 2 Bryant, who held off No. 6 UMass Lowell 4-2 on a wild Wednesday night. UNH scored an early goal and Vermont put on the pressure in the second half. The Catamounts broke through in the 85th minute on a David Ismail goal to force OT and then in extra time Ismail earned the assist on Maximillian Kissel’s game-winner. Bryant wasted no time against the River Hawks, scoring 39 seconds into the contest and built a 3-0 in the first half. UMass Lowell answered with two goals to close the gap, but the Bulldogs added one more in the final 30 seconds. Sunday’s #AEMSOC Championship will feature the top two seeds in the league and two of the top five in the nation, as No. 2 Vermont welcomes No. 5 Bryant to Virtue Field at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ domestically and AmericaEast.TV for international viewers. In the 26th minute Niklas Herceg made a save on Elias Khodri in a 1-on-1 situation with his foot to preserve the 1-0 score. Scott Williams kept the Wildcats alive in the second half, making a pair of diving saves in the 50th minute and then the 65th minute on a David Ismail rocket from outside the 18. Ismail finally broke through in the 85th minute. Maximillian Kissel collected a free kick at the six and touched it back to Ismail, who ripped it home. In overtime, Ismail put another shot on target and Williams made the save but Kissel was able to head in the rebound for the game-winner. Vermont finished with a 29-7 shot advantage including 19-1 in the second half and OT. Herceg finished with four saves while Williams had ten. MAKE THAT 2?! Jiana extended the lead to 2-0 just four minutes later as he put home a bouncing ball right in front of the net following a corner kick. Fermin Rodriguez stretched the advantage to 3-0 as he stole a ball outside the 18 and put it over the retreating goalkeeper. The River Hawks got on the board in the 43rd minute as Ethan Young had a great individual effort to beat his defender and chip the shot past a charging Enzo Carvalho. UMass Lowell drew a penalty three minutes into the second half and Carvalho made the initial stop but Aamir Ketbache flew in for the rebound and blasted it past Carvalho who was still recovering. Bryant added an insurance goal from Jorge Rodriguez with 23 seconds remaining in regulation. The Bulldogs finished with an 11-6 shot advantage.
