It came down to the final contests of the regular season, but in the end New Hampshire’s 2-0 victory over UMass Lowell secured a fourth consecutive regular-season championship and the top seed in the 2022 #AEMSOC Championship for the Wildcats. Vermont secured the No. 2 seed while UAlbany took the No. 3 seed by playing to a 0-0 draw with the Catamounts on Tuesday.
The championship commences with quarterfinal action on Nov. 5. The final seeds for the for the 2022 America East Men’s Soccer Championship are:
- New Hampshire – Won fourth consecutive #AEMSOC Regular Season Championship.
- Vermont – Earned the No. 2 seed for the fourth straight season.
- UAlbany – Reached the conference tournament for the 11th time in the last 12 years.
- UMBC – Earned its first top-four seed since 2015.
- Binghamton – Secured its first top-five seed since 2015.
- NJIT – Made its third consecutive conference tournament appearance.
The Wildcats, the 20th-ranked team in the country, took home the first win of the evening but had to wait for the result of UVM’s contest against the Great Danes to know its seed. The two teams played to a draw, giving UNH the top seed with 18 points, while the Catamounts finished with 16. UAlbany’s tie, combined with UMBC’s loss to Binghamton, left both programs with 12 points apiece. The Great Danes took down the Retrievers earlier this year to secure the third seed via head-to-head tiebreak.
Binghamton’s win tonight kept the Bearcats as the No. 5 seed, and they will travel to face off against UMBC for the second time in less than a week in the quarterfinals. NJIT qualified for the championship on Tuesday with its 4-0 victory over Bryant and as the No. 6 seed will travel to face UAlbany at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
No. 1 UNH will face the winner of Binghamton and UMBC, while No. 2 Vermont will host the winner of NJIT and UAlbany in the semifinal on Nov. 10.
The 2022 America East Men’s Soccer Championship will primarily air on ESPN+ domestically and AmericaEast.TV internationally, with select contests solely on AETV.
