UAlbany Women's Lacrosse Set for NCAA Clash with No. 4 Johns Hopkins

BOSTON – The 2026 #AEWLAX Champions, the Great Danes, are set to take on B1G Semifinalist, No. 4 Johns Hopkins, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament

The Great Danes went 5–1 in conference play before defeating Bryant (12–3) and Vermont (13–11) to win the #AEWLAX Championship. UAlbany is led by Conference Midfielder of the Year Katie Cook, who paced the team with 30 goals and set a conference single-season record with 142 draw controls, including a single-game record of 21. She also totaled six goals and seven assists during the conference tournament run.

On the defensive end, Co-Goalkeeper of the Year Grace Cincebox anchors the cage. The senior ranked second in save percentage (.514) and third in goals-against average (9.59), while making 9.3 saves per game in conference action.

Johns Hopkins (14-4) fell to Maryland in the Big Ten semifinal but earned an at-large bid after ending the seas facing eight teams this season that made the 29-team field, including four of the top eight seeds. The Blue Jays’ offense is powered by three players with at least 79 points: Lacey Downey (90), Ava Angello (85), and Taylor Hoss (79). The Blue Jays also feature Reagan O’Brien, the NCAA’s all-time leader in caused turnovers, with 241 in her career.
