BOSTON – Through the first two weeks of the season, six different programs have competed in meets, with a number of impressive performances.
Binghamton took care of Le Moyne in its season-opener while UMBC secured a victory over American. VMI didn’t beat Army, but had a number of swimmers turn in times that sit at the top of the conference in their respective events.
Vermont was also in action at Northeastern, while NJIT competed at Iona and Maine hosts the University of New Brunswick.
This coming weekend Bryant begins its season while Binghamton, NJIT and UMBC host their first meets of the year. VMI is also in action at Mount St. Mary’s.

Swimmer of the Week
Natalie Schick, Vermont – Gr., Madison, Wisc.
- Won the 200 backstroke (2:06.14) and took second in the 100 backstroke (27.96) in league-best times on Saturday against Northeastern.
- Also led off the 200 medley relay as the team finished with an AE-best time of 1:47.69
- This is Schick’s first #AESD Swimmer of the Week honor.
Diver of the Week
Lizzie Tirado, Binghamton – Sr., White Plains, N.Y
- Won the 3-meter diving event in her first meet with an NCAA Zone standard of 282.35.
- Took second in the 1-meter with a score of 256.25, which is the best score in the league.
- This is Tirado’s first #AESD Diver of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Julia Iwanow, Binghamton – Fr., Portland, Ore.
- Won both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke in her collegiate debut and helped the team to a victory in the 200 medley relay.
- Her time of 1:06.88 in the 100 breaststroke is the best in the league while her 200 IM (2:12.07) is third.
- This is Iwanow’s second #AESD Rookie of the Week honor.

Swimmer of the Week
Stephen Russell, VMI – So, Mount Pleasant, S.C.
- Took second against Army in the 1,000 free with a league-best time of 9:28.99, also a CSCAA B cut time, and also placed second in the 200 IM (1:53.38).
- Russell’s 1,000 free time is currently the 32nd best in the nation.
- This is Russell’s first #AESD Swimmer of the Week honor this season.
Diver of the Week
Dylan Norby, Binghamton – Jr., Memomonei, Wisc.
- Won the men's three-meter diving event in the Bearcats' meet against Le Moyne with a score of 345.35.
- The scored is the 10th best in the nation and met the NCAA Zone Meet qualifying standard.
- This is Norby’s first #AESD Diver of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Ian Lutz, VMI – Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.
- Placed second in the 100 free with a league-best time of 45.73.
- Also led VMI to league-best times in the 200 medley relay (1:32.51) and the 200 free relay (1:22.32).
- This is Lutz’s first #AESD Rookie of the Week honor.
