This must-watch matchup highlights a huge weekend of America East conference play across all fall sports as playoffs are just 9 days away. The Bulldogs and Catamounts square off at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ in the first conference matchup between nationally ranked top-10 programs in league history, and both come into the contest without a loss this season. The defending national champion Catamounts are 9-0-5 and have posted seven shutouts this season while 13-0-1 Bryant has ten shutouts and allowed only four goals all season. Vermont hasn’t lone in a calendar year and is unbeaten in its past 24 matches. The Bulldogs are currently in first place in the league standings with 12 points (4-0), while UVM is close behind with ten points (3-0-1). A home victory for Bryant would give them the inside track towards the top overall seed with just two conference games remaining after Saturday. However, a Vermont victory would move them into first with games against UAlbany and Binghamton remaining. Men’s Soccer UMass Lowell is in the midst of its best season in six years and looks to clinch a playoff spot with a victory over UMBC at home and some help from other programs. UAlbany could also clinch a playoff berth with a home against Binghamton, while New Hampshire hosts NJIT looking for a crucial three points in the final conference game of the weekend. Just two regular season dates remain after Saturday – Friday Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 4 Women’s Soccer Binghamton (17 pts, 5-0-2) has been in the driver’s seat all season long and could clinch the regular season title and the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming championship with a win or a tie against second place Vermont. The Catamounts (13 pts, 4-1-1), however could secure the No. 1 overall seed with a victory against Binghamton and then a win or tie in its regular season finale against UAlbany. Maine (8 pt) looks to be the first team this weekend to clinch a playoff spot as they travel to NJIT (3 pts) on Saturday evening. The Highlanders, meanwhile, are looking for their first league win and to climb back in the playoff picture. UMass Lowell (8 pts) hosts UAlbany (3 pts) on Sunday afternoon. The River Hawks could clinch a playoff berth with a win and some help, while the Great Danes seek to keep their playoff hopes alive with a victory. UMBC (6 pts) takes to the road in search on a key points in the final week of the regular season, but the Wildcats (9 pts) are unbeaten in their past five games and could clinch a playoff spot with a win or tie on Saturday. Field Hockey Four teams are currently tied atop the standings at 2-1 with just two game dates left in the regular season. Among the four tied teams, only Vermont has already played all four, with wins over UAlbany and New Hampshire as well as a loss to UMass Lowell. The defending conference champion Catamounts look to take a large step toward a top-two seed when they play at Bryant (0-3) this afternoon. UVM faces Maine in its final game of the regular season. UAlbany (2-1) hosts New Hampshire (2-1) at 2 p.m. today in a matchup with serious playoff implications. The Great Danes are allowing a league-best 1.1 goals per game. The Wildcat offense ranks sixth nationally in scoring at 3.55 goals per game, led by the nation’s second leading scoring Nicole Poulakis. Maine (1-2) welcomes UMass Lowell (2-1) looking to make a late push up the standings. A victory for the Black Bears would still give them a good chance at a top-two seed, while loss would keep them at the No. 5 spot in the standings. The River Hawks would stay in strong contention for their second regular season title in the past three years should they win. Volleyball It is tight in the volleyball standings with half of conference play completed as five teams battle for the four playoff spots. UAlbany is 3-2 in league play and hosts New Hampshire as the Great Danes look to move into sole possession of second place. The defending champion Wildcats are 2-3 in league play and beat UAlbany 3-2 at home earlier this year. On Sunday, Bryant (4-1) looks to stay in sole possession of first place when the Bulldogs travel to battle UAlbany. New Hampshire is also in action on Sunday as the Wildcats welcome NJIT, and UMBC hosts Binghamton in the third match of the day.
