#AEMSOC Week 5: No. 9 Vermont & No. 17 Bryant Continue Winning Ways

BOSTON – Vermont and Bryant each went 2-0 last week to remain unbeaten on the season as both boast RPI’s in the top-25 in the latest numbers released by the NCAA on Monday morning.
 
The Bulldogs, who have won seven straight, earned a pair of shutouts over Saint Joseph’s and Stonehill last week to improve to 7-0-1,as they own an RPI of 21 in the first NCAA RPI release of 2025. Vermont, meanwhile, is ranked 5th in RPI after taking down Hofstra 2-1 and then Fairfield 4-2 this past week.
 
Need to Know:
  • The Catamounts trailed Fairfield 2-0 at the half, but scored four second-half goals, including two from Ryan Zellefrow in a 40-second span to earn the hard-fought road victory.
  • The Bulldogs’ seven-game win streak is tied for the longest in the nation and have allowed just one goal over their past six games. They will be tested on Tuesday as they play at UConn.
  • New Hampshire earned its first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Dartmouth, after falling 1-0 to Harvard earlier in the week. The Wildcats play at Yale this week.
  • UMass Lowell went 1-1 last week, beating Merrimack 1-0 but falling 4-1 to Brown on Saturday.
  • NJIT secured its second win, 1-0 over Saint Peter’s last week, while UMBC dropped a pair of tough 1-0 decisions.
  • Binghamton beat CCSU 2-1 and then hosts Lafayette on Tuesday.
 
Conference play begins this Saturday as Vermont welcomes UMBC, the last team to beat the Catamounts. UVM is unbeaten in 19 straight matches since falling at UMBC back on Oct. 26, 2024. UNH travels to Binghamton and UAlbany hosts NJIT. Bryant and UMass Lowell follow on Sunday in Smithfield.

Defensive Player of the Week
Ramon Camejo, Bryant – So., Goalkeeper, Monroe, N.J.
  • Earned a pair of shutout victories with four saves as Bryant stretched its win streak to seven games.
  • Made three saves in a 3-0 victory at Stonehill on Saturday.
  • This is Camejo’s first #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Nicolas Loebus, Vermont – Fr., Midfielder, Bad Homburg, Germany
  • Registered a pair of assists as Vermont went 2-0 last week to stay unbeaten.
  • Against Fairfield, assisted on the game-winning goal just 27 seconds after the game-tying goal had been scored.
  • This is Loebus’ first #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor this season.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country and home to the defending national champions from Vermont. In 2024, the Catamounts led the nation in RPI and the America East finish fifth as a conference. It marked the league’s second straight top-six finish in RPI. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in four of the past nine seasons. Four different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014.
