#AEMSOC Week 6: Bryant, UNH & UVM Extend Win Streaks

BOSTON – No. 14 Bryant extended the nation’s longest win streak with a dominant win on Sunday, while No. 7 Vermont and New Hampshire came away with conference victories on Saturday in the opening weekend of #AEMSOC action.
 
The Bulldogs have won nine straight games and are 9-0-1 overall after defeating No. 22 UConn 4-1 on Tuesday and then UMass Lowell 3-0 on Sunday. The Catamounts pushed their unbeaten streak to nine while the Wildcats extended their win streak to three. Vermont is up to No. 2 in the latest RPI rankings while Bryant move up to No. 5 in RPI.
 
 
Need to Know:
  • Bryant opened the week with a dominant 4-1 victory over No. 22 UConn and followed it up with a 3-0 home win against UMass Lowell to open conference play.
  • Vermont shut out UMBC 2-0 to extend its nation-leading unbeaten streak to 20 matches.
  • New Hampshire beat Yale 2-0 on the road and then scored three times in the final 15 minutes against Binghamton to secure a 3-2 victory.  
  • UAlbany secured a pair of draws, tying Siena 0-0 and then NJIT 1-1 to open conference play.
  • UMass Lowell opened the week with a 3-2 victory over Central Conn. State but fell to Bryant on Saturday.
 
Binghamton hosts Cornell on Tuesday and then travels to UMass Lowell on Saturday. Vermont plays at NJIT in conference play on Saturday, while New Hampshire hosts UAlbany and UMBC welcomes Bryant.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jaime Amaro, Bryant – So., Forward, Madrid, Spain
  • Scored twice in a 3-0 win over UMass Lowell to start conference play.
  • Also appeared against No. 22 UConn, helping the team to a 4-1 road victory.
  • This is Amaro’s second straight #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Niklas Herceg, Vermont – So., Goalkeeper, Alsdorf, Germany
  • Stopped four shots in a 2-0 shutout victory over UMBC.
  • Made a point-blank save in the 76th minute to retain the clean sheet.
  • This is Herceg’s second #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Xahvi DeRoza, New Hampshire – Fr., Forward, Warwick, Bermuda
  • Scored game-winning goal in 3-2 comeback victory over Binghamton.
  • Shot from 25 yards out to give UNH a 3-2 lead in the 88th minute in the conference opener.
  • This is DeRoza’s first #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor this season.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country and home to the defending national champions from Vermont. In 2024, the Catamounts led the nation in RPI and the America East finish fifth as a conference. It marked the league’s second straight top-six finish in RPI. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in four of the past nine seasons. Four different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014.
