LOWELL, Mass. – The UAlbany women left no doubt with a strong performance Sunday to win their 17th straight outdoor track & field championship, while UMass Lowell won for the third time in the last four seasons, and for the first time on its own track.
The Great Danes used their depth to total 188 points, 46 points ahead of second place UMBC who had 142. Bryant placed third with 121.5 points, while Binghamton was fourth with 114 and New Hampshire rounded out the top five with 105.
UMass Lowell’s victory was in doubt until impressive finishes in the 5K and the decathlon to secure the win. The River Hawks finished with 166.5 points, while defending champion UAlbany was in second with 140. UMBC nearly upended the Great Danes with 137 points, while Binghamton was in fourth with 106.5 points and New Hampshire rounded out the top five with 85.5 points.
