#AEBASE Week 1: Bryant, UMass Lowell, and Maine Earn Victories

BOSTON – Bryant started its 2026 campaign 2-1 to highlight the opening weekend of baseball in the America East as five of the seven programs took to the field and three earned wins.

The Bulldogs defeated Davidson twice over the weekend, wining 6-5 in 10 innings in the opener and then took the finale 8-5. Their one loss was 11-10 in extra innings. UMass Lowell and Maine were both able to secure an opening weekend win. The River Hawks defeated Morehead State 7-4 while Maine took down Duke 4-3 on Friday night in extra innings.
 
All seven teams are in action this weekend on the road, beginning with each of them playing on Friday. UAlbany makes its season debut at Texas Tech while UMBC is at Longwood. Maine plays a weekend series at High Point while Bryant faces off against No. 17 Clemson for three contests.

Player of the Week
Casey Wensley, Bryant – Jr., Infield, Raynham, Mass.
  • Went 7-for-11 with a home run, five RBI and five runs scored.
  • Had an OPS of 1.576 during the series in leading the team to a pair of wins.
  • This is Wensley’s first career #AEBASE Player of the Week honor.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Jack Donlin, Maine – So., Pitcher, Cazenovia, N.Y.
  • Pitched two shutout innings of relief, striking out four batters.
  • Three strikeouts in his first career save during the ninth inning of a 4-3 win over Duke on Friday night.
  • This is Donlin’s first career #AEBASE Pitcher of the Week honor.

Rookie of the Week
Troy Carpenter, Maine – Fr., Pitcher, Kathleen, GA.
  • Slashed .308/.438/.538 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a 1-3 weekend at Duke.
  • This is Carpenter’s first career #AEBASE Rookie of the Week honor.
