Women’s #AEHoops Week 2: Bryant & Vermont Stay Perfect

BOSTON –  Vermont and Bryant remain unbeaten after two weeks of action, and 7 of 9 teams own a record of .500 or better after two weeks of action.
  
The Week That Was
  • UMBC had the biggest win of any program last week as the Retrievers took down Virginia 61-56. Gabby Scott and Heidi Williams each led the team with 14 points apiece.
  • The Bulldogs are 4-0 after a 66-56 win over Marist and then an 81-57 victory against Rider. They have four players averaging in double figures, led by Mia Mancini (15.8)
  • Vermont also improved to 4-0 by beating Buffalo 73-55 and then Lehigh 59-49 as they lead the league in scoring offense (88.3 ppg) and scoring defense (46.0 ppg)
  • UMass Lowell earned a 70-45 win over CCSU while NJIT improved to 4-1 with a win over St. Thomas after falling to Minnesota.
  • UAlbany edged Dartmouth but came up short against Rhode Island.
  • Maine remains the lone winless team after falling to No. 10 NC State and VCU last week.
 
Looking Ahead
  • There are 17 competitions this week, beginning with Maine hosting Stonehill tonight in Orono.
  • Binghamton heads to No. 14 Michigan while Vermont is on the road at High Point and then No. 25 Washington looking to stay perfect.
  • Bryant plays at Merrimack and Stonehill as the Bulldogs seek to stay unbeaten this season.

2025-26 Weekly Award Winners (Nov. 17)
Player of the Week
Maddie Rice, UMass Lowell – Jr., Guard, Charlottesville, Va.
  • Tallied 23 points and 11 rebounds in a 70-54 victory over CCSU.
  • Shot 7-for-9 from the floor and added two steals in the victory.
  • This is Rice’s first career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Heidi Williams, UMBC – Fr., Guard, Prince George's County, Md.
  • Averaged 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in a 1-1 week.
  • Finished with 14 points and five rebounds, including four free throws in the final six seconds to secure a 61-56 victory over Virginia last week, UMBC’s first win over a Power 4 program.
  • This is Williams’ first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
