Men's Lacrosse 2/16/2026 2:00:00 PM #AEMLAX Week 2: Vermont & UMass Lowell Earn Victories BOSTON – Vermont and UMass Lowell earned victories last week, while No. 20 UAlbany nearly beat No. 4 Cornell is a tough week of competition. Need to Know: Vermont started its season with an impressive 17-8 win over Queens, but came up short 22-6 to No. 8 Duke on Sunday afternoon. UAlbany hosts No. 4 Cornell on Saturday and led 6-4 midway through the second. The Great Danes gave up the lead but tied it up 10-10 with 2:34 left in the 4th. A late turnover into a goal was a difference as they lost 11-10. UMass Lowell forced OT against Mercyhurst with a goal in the final 10 seconds of regulation and then Colby Frigon won it in 2OT for the River Hawks, 14-13. Binghamton fell in a pair of 10-9 matchups, to St. Bonaventure and Lafayette. Up Next: UAlbany looks for its first win of the season, host Penn on Tuesday and then travels to Drexel on Saturday. Binghamton plays twice, at Siena on Tuesday and then hosting Marist on Saturday. Vermont welcomes Dartmouth on Saturday while Bryant looks for a win against Quinnipiac. #AEMLAX Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 16 Offensive Player of the Week Jackson Palumb, UAlbany – Jr., Attack, East Syracuse, N.Y Had four goals and one assist in an 11-10 loss to No. 4 Cornell. This is Palumb’s first #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor. Defensive Player of the Week Justin Lee, UAlbany – Sr., Defense, Mississauga, Ont. Finished with three caused turnovers and four ground balls in an 11-10 loss to No. 4 Cornell. This is Lee’s first #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor. Goalkeeper of the Week Connor Winters, Binghamton – Gr., Goalkeeper, Webster, N.Y. Totaled 28 saves with a .583 save percentage in a pair of 10-9 losses. Face 92 shots over two games and also scored his second career goal. This is Winter’s third #AEMLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor. Face-Off Specialist of the Week Walter Zhao, Vermont – Jr., Face-Off, Millstone, N.J. Went 28-for-50 on face-offs with 15 ground balls in a 1-1 week. Won 14 of 28 face-offs with four ground balls in a loss to No. 8 Duke Won 19 of 22 face-off with 11 ground balls against Queens. This is Garcia’s first #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist honor. Rookie of the Week Zack Toll, Vermont – Fr., Attack, Oshawa, Ontario Had three assists and one ground ball in two contests. Dished off a pair of assists in a 22-6 loss to No. 8 Duke.
