#AESD Week 1: The Season Gets Underway

Swimmer of the Week
Fayanne Smith-Salzberg, Binghamton – Brooklyn, N.Y.

  • Won three individual events at the season-opening Hannah Gibbons Invitational, taking first in the 50 breaststroke (30.61), 100 breaststroke (1:06.76) and 100 IM (1:00.15).
  • Also helped Binghamton win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.35.
  • This is Smith-Salzberg’s first #AESD Swimmer of the Week honor this season.

Diver of the Week
Katya Peresunko, UMBC – Fr., Bethesda, Md.

  • Swept both diving events in her collegiate debut, winning the 1-meter with a score of 255.80 and the 3-meter with a score of 243.00.
  • This is Peresunko’s first #AESD Diver of the Week honor.

Rookie of the Week
Amaya Olivieri, Vermont – Fr., Jackson, Wyo.

  • Earned her first collegiate individual victory in the 100 IM with a time of 59.72 as Vermont defeated Northeastern for the first time in program history.
  • Also swam the opening leg of Vermont’s winning 200 medley relay as the Catamounts recorded 10 event victories in the meet.
  • This is Olivieri’s first #AESD Rookie of the Week honor.

2026-27 #AESD Men's Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 6

Swimmer of the Week
Braden Weise, UMBC – So., Reading, Pa.

  • Won both the 50 free (20.47) and 100 free (45.76) in UMBC's season-opening meet.
  • Also posted a 25.68 breaststroke split in the 200 medley relay and a 44.93 split in the 400 free relay.
  • This is Weise’s first #AESD Swimmer of the Week honor this season.

Diver of the Week
Dylan Norby, Binghamton – Sr., Menomonie, Wis.

  • Won the 3-meter competition at the season-opening Hannah Gibbons Invitational with a score of 329.20, meeting the NCAA Zone Diving qualifying standard.
  • Also finished second in the 1-meter competition with a score of 292.00.
  • This is Norby’s first #AESD Diver of the Week honor this season.

Rookie of the Week
Turner Wiand, UMBC – Fr., Fort Mill, S.C.

  • Earned a pair of individual victories in his collegiate debut, winning the 100 backstroke in 50.90 and the 200 backstroke in 1:53.83.
  • Also helped UMBC win the 200 medley relay with a 23.09 split and placed sixth in the 50 free (21.88).
  • This is Wiand’s first #AESD Rookie of the Week honor.
