BOSTON – Following the program’s 15
th championship last season, UMBC was selected first in the 2026-27 America East men’s swimming & diving preseason poll, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Last season UMBC ended Binghamton’s two-year championship reign and in 2026-27 received 4 of 5 first place votes to take first in the poll with 16 total points. Binghamton captured the final first place vote and had 13 total points to place second. Bryant was third with 10 points, followed by NJIT (7) and Maine (4).

At least season’s championship, UMBC pulled away over the final two days of competition to take down Binghamton 805.5-748, with Bryant capturing third (572.5). It marked the first time since 2023 UMBC had surpassed 800 points.
This year Binghamton is the first team to hit the pool, facing Le Moyne on Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. UMBC and NJIT compete a week later on Oct. 3, while Bryant opens on Oct. 9 and Maine begins on Oct. 16.
