#AEWSOC Week 8: Five Teams Go Unbeaten

BOSTON – Five America East teams posted unbeaten weeks as the majority of the league played a pair of conference games last week. Binghamton, Bryant and UMBC all went a perfect 2-0-0 while Vermont was 1-0-1 and UMass Lowell tied its lone contest.
 
Every game matters with three points being awarded to the winning team, one point to each team in the event of a tie and zero points to the losing team. The top six teams in the standings at the end of the season will qualify for the 2026 America East Women’s Soccer Championship, set to take place Nov. 5-15.
 
Need to Know
  • Binghamton posted wins over UAlbany and UNH to remain atop the league’s standings after improving to 3-0-1.
  • The Bearcats’ six goals in their 6-0 win over UAlbany on Thursday were the most in the league game since Vermont put up six on UMass Lowell on Oct. 1, 2023.
  • Jahkaya Davis, a Binghamton junior forward, scored three times last week to earn America East Offensive Player of the Week honors. She leads the league with seven goals this season.
  • UMBC posted a 1-0 win over NJIT on Thursday and a 5-0 victory over UAlbany on Sunday to improve. To 9-3-2 on the season. The nine victories are already the Retrievers’ most since the 2014 campaign.
  • Vermont extended its unbeaten streak to six (4-0-2) with a win and a tie last week. The Catamounts tied UMass Lowell, 0-0, on Thursday and then knocked off Maine, 2-1, on Sunday in a rematch of last year’s America East title game.
  • The #AEWSOC preseason poll and All-Conference teams were announced on July 30. Three-time defending league champion Maine was chosen the 2026 favorite while last year’s regular-season champion Binghamton was second - link.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jahkaya Davis, Binghamton – Jr., Forward, Mississauga, Ont.
  • Scored three goals in a pair of Binghamton wins last week.
  • Found the back of the net twice in the Bearcats’ 6-0 victory over UAlbany on Thursday.
  • Tallied Binghamton’s first goal in a 2-1 win over UNH on Sunday.
  • This is Davis’ first #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career (9/2/25).
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Hailey Ahmed, UMBC – So. Defender, Oceanside, Calif.
  • Led a defense that pitched two shutouts last week and allowed just six shots on net.
  • Played all 180 minutes.
  • Ahmed also had a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win over UAlbany on Sunday.
  • This is Ahmed’s first career #AEWSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Shannon Mejia, Bryant – Sr., Goalkeeper, Milford, Mass.
  • Stopped all nine shots she faced to record a pair of shutout victories.
  • Had four saves in a 2-0 win over UNH on Thursday.
  • Made five stops in a 1-0 win over NJIT on Sunday.
  • This is Mejia's first career #AEWSOC Goalkeeper of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Brooke Clagett, UMBC – Fr., Forward, Frederick, Md.
  • Had a goal and an assist in two Retriever wins last week.
  • Set up the lone goal in UMBC’s 1-0 win over NJIT on Thursday and then tallied the Retrievers’ first goal in their 5-0 victory over UMBC on Thursday.
  • This is Clagett’s third #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week honor of the season (9/28, 8/17).
