Women’s #AEHoops Week 7: Three Teams Reach 10 Victories

BOSTON –  UAlbany, Bryant and Vermont have all reached ten victories as the league went 8-4 this past week in non-conference action.
 
UAlbany and Vermont each went 1-1 last week to 10-3 and 10-4 respectively, while Bryant is 10-4 after taking down a pair of non-Division I programs at home last week. Binghamton has also come on strong, winning four straight games to improve to 7-3 in league play.
 
Vermont owns the best NET rating in the league at 79, while UAlbany is close behind at 94. Bryant is third at 127, while Maine (174), NJIT (185) and Binghamton (190) are all under 200. The America East is ranked 13th as a conference in NET this year and owns a 52-47 record against Division I programs this year.
  
The Week That Was
  • UAlbany’s win streak came to an end against No. 11 Vanderbilt 64-35, but the Great Danes rebounded with a 52-43 win over Hofstra on Sunday.
  • Maine had the best win of any team this week, as Adrianna Smith scored at the buzzer to beat Harvard 69-67 on the road Sunday afternoon.
  • Vermont fell by one at Holy Cross, before an impressive 69-59 road victory at Drexel last weekend.
  • New Hampshire went 2-0 last week, outlasting CCSU 69-66 and then blowing out Dartmouth 74-38.
  • Binghamton continued its hot streak to end the year, beating Colgate 82-54.
                                                                                                            
Looking Ahead
  • There are just seven non-conference games over the next 10 days, before league play begins on Jan. 1
  • Vermont hosts Dartmouth on Dec. 28, while Binghamton is at Penn and NJIT face Delaware State on Dec. 29.
  • On Jan. 1, defending champion Vermont is at UAlbany to begin conference play at 2 p.m.

Co-Player of the Week
Eva DeChent, New Hampshire - Jr., Guard, Westchester, N.Y.
  • Averaged 27.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in a 2-0 week.
  • Tallied 33 points and seven rebounds, including two clutch FT in the final ten second to beat CCSU 69-66.
  • Had 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a 36-point win over Dartmouth.
  • This is DeChent’s second #AEHoops Player of the Week of her career.

Co-Player of the Week
Adrianna Smith, Maine – Sr., Forward, Reston, Va.
  • Tallied 21 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a 59-57 win over Harvard.
  • Scored the game-winning layup at the buzzer to lift the Black Bears to victory.
  • Only player in the nation with averaging at least 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game
  • This is Smith’s second #AEHoops Player of the Week this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Ashley Redd, Binghamton – Fr., Guard, Porter Ranch, Calif.
  • Averaged 10.0 points 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 block per game in a 1-1 week.
  • Posted 12 points, two rebounds and one block in an 82-54 victory over Colgate.
  • This is Redd’s first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
