#AEFH Week 7: UAlbany and UMass Lowell move to 2-0

BOSTONConference play continues to heat up through the second week of league play as UAlbany and UMass Lowell move to 2-0.
 
Need to Know:

  • UAlbany shutout Bryant, 3-0 on Friday, before edging Northeastern, 2-1 on Sunday
  • After getting blanked on Friday, the Bulldogs flipped the script and shutout Merimack, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. 
  • UMass Lowell edged Vermont, 2-1, thanks to first year Veerle Mous’ four saves
  • This weekend Vermont hosts UAlbany, Bryant travels to Maine, and New Hampshire is at UMass Lowell in league play.
  • The #AEFH preseason poll and All-Conference teams were announced on August 6 - link.
 
2025 #AEFH Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 14
Offensive Player of the Week
Nicole Poulakis, New Hampshire – Sr., Forward, Ajax, Ontario
  • Recorded a goal and an assist in New Hampshire’s win over Maine
  • Gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead, before setting up New Hampshire’s game-winning goal early in the second half 
  • This is Poulakis’ second #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jenna Zunic, UAlbany – R-Sr., Defender, Johnson City, N.Y.
  • Played a key role in UAlbany shutting out Bryant on friday 
  • Recorded the game-winning in the Great Danes’ 2-1 win over Northeastern
  • This is Zunic’s first #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

Rookie of the Week
Veerle Mous, UMass Lowell – Fr., Goalkeeper, Breda, Netherlands
  • Recorded four saves in the River Hawk’s 2-1 win over Vermont last week
  • Logged a .800 save percentage with three shutout-quarters against the Catamounts
  • This is Mous’ first #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor.
