America East Celebrates Black History Month
February 2011


In an effort to honor African-American alumni from each of the nine schools affiliated with the America East, the conference is putting together a nine-part video series featuring one prominent African-American alumni from each school. This video series highlights the great history and success that African-American graduates from America East schools have had and also displays the variety of different jobs and backgrounds that these alumni have made an impact on after graduation.

With a variety of occupations, ranging from a prominent corporate lawyer in New York City, to a man who opened his house to African-Americans traveling through Kittery Point, Maine in the late 1950’s, the America East will honor alumni of different age, gender and background. The one shared trait of each of the nine individuals selected is the fact that they are African-Americans who have made a significant impact on a number of people’s lives.

Please join us throughout the month of February, as the America East will celebrate the accomplishments of the following nine individuals. See the list below for the release schedule:
