Boston U., UMBC Win Lacrosse Championships, Albany Sweeps Track and Field - AmericaEast.com

Top seeds UMBC and Boston University won the America East Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championships, respectively, and earned the conference’s automatic bids to the NCAA Championships. Albany swept the America East Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

 

UMBC defeated Stony Brook, 11-7, to earn its second-straight America East Men’s Lacrosse title and third in five years. The Retrievers will play at No. 6 seed North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Saturday afternoon at 2:30. The game will air on ESPNU.

 

Boston University defeated New Hampshire, 16-6, to win its fifth-straight America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The Terriers will play at No. 7 seed Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Sunday afternoon at 3:30.

 

Albany swept both the America East Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Binghamton University on Saturday and Sunday. The Great Danes’ Joe Greene, who set conference records in the both the 400 meters and 400-meter hurdles, was named the Men’s Outstanding Track Performer.

 

Stony Brook has earned the top seed and will host the America East Softball Championship. The Seawolves are joined by Boston University, Albany and UMBC in the four-team championship, which begins Thursday.

 

America East Tennis champions Binghamton (men) and Boston University (women) learned their NCAA destinations and opponents. The Bearcats will play at Texas A&M on Friday while the Terriers will travel to UCLA on Saturday.
