Field Is Set For 2009 NCAA Tennis Championship - AmericaEast.com

INDIANAPOLIS- The Binghamton University men and Boston University women received their respective opponents Tuesday evening when the national office announced its seeds for the 2009 NCAA Tennis Championship.

Binghamton (17-4) will face 15th-seeded Texas A&M (15-8), the host of this year’s Championship, at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station in the first round NCAA Men’s Championship on Friday, May 8. The Bearcats defeated top-seeded Stony Brook University at the America East Championship on Sunday, April 26, to earn their second consecutive NCAA tournament bid, the program’s fifth all-time.

The Terriers (15-5) will face 11th-seeded UCLA (17-6) in the first-round of the NCAA Women's Championship at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m. EDT. Boston U. is making its 11th-straight trip to the tournament after downing Binghamton, 4-1, on Sunday, April 26 to win the America East title for the 15th consecutive season.

The NCAA format is a single-elimination tournament at 16 first- and second-round sites, with four teams at each site. Regional winners will advance to the nationals, held May 16-26 in Tulsa. Thirty-one conferences received automatic bids to the tournament, with the other 33 teams earning at-large berths.
