Boston University defeated Binghamton University, 4-1, at the Connecticut Tennis Center in New Haven to win its ninth-straight America East Women's Tennis Championship. The Terriers receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tennis Championship, May 9-10.

The top-seeded Terriers, who dropped the doubles point to the second-seeded Bearcats, rebounded with four-straight singles wins to earn the title, their 13th in the 14-year history of the conference championship.
Elena deMendoza defeated Janine Sadaka, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles; Alana Marcu was a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 winner over Alexis Brill at No. 4 singles; Elisa Glas downed Kristin Jobe, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles; and Aimee Charest beat Amy Linda, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. Binghamton's Justina Hakimi led Lindsey Dynof, 6-2, 5-7, 4-3 in No. 1 singles; and Boston University's Laura Ahmes led Amy Weissberg, 3-6, 7-5, 4-1 in No. 3 singles when both matches were suspended with the team result decided.
The Bearcats won the doubles point with three wins. Hakimi and Brill downed deMendoza and Ahmes, 8-6 at No. 1; Sadaka and Weissberg defeated Synof and Charest, 8-5 at No. 2; and Jobe and Linda were 9-8 (7-5) winners over Marcu and Glas at No. 3.
Dynof was named the Most Outstanding Performer. She was joined on the all-conference team by teammates deMendoza, Ahmes, Marku, Glas and Charest; Hakimi, Sadaka, Weissberg, Jobe and Linda of Binghamton; Violeta Petijevic of University at Albany; Lindsey Johnson of University of New Hampshire; Alexis Alexander of University of Hartford; Anne Catherine Valle of Stony Brook; and Allie Taylor of University of Vermont. Jamie Campbell of Binghamton was named Coach of the Year.
The America East Tennis Championship utilizes a format of three doubles matches and six singles matches. Doubles matches are played first using eight-game pro sets with a 12-point tie-break at eight games all. The team winning two or more of the doubles matches receives one point in the team scoring. The doubles matches are followed by the singles matches using a best two-of-three sets format. Each singles match is worth one point. A minimum of four points is required to win the team match.
