Eight-time defending America East Champion Boston University and first-time finals participant Binghamton University each posted 4-0 victories in the semifinals to advance to the America East Women's Tennis Championship, to be played Sunday, April 27, at 12 noon at the Conencticut Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn. The match format changed to singles first and a first to four points format due to the matches being moved indoor due to inclement weather.

Binghamton was the first to secure the finals berth, taking a 4-0 decision from New Hampshire. The Bearcats used wins by Justina Hakimi (6-3, 7-5 over Lindsey Johnson), Janine Sadaka (6-1, 6-0 over Hallie Erickson), Amy Weissberg (6-3, 6-1 over Lensey Dixon), and Alexis Brill (6-3, 6-3 over Jenny Witter) at first through fourth singles respectively, to advance to their first ever America East Championship match. The doubles matches were not played due to the team match having been decided. New Hampshire's Jess Pasay was leading Kristin Jobe (6-2, 0-3) at fifth singles and Binghamton's Amy Linda was leading Debbie Kung (5-2) at sixth singles at the time the match was halted.

Boston University posted wins at first singles (Lindsey Dynof, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 over Anne Catherine Valle), second singles (Elena deMendoza, 6-2, 7-5 over Patricia Gomez), third singles (Laura Ahmes, 6-3, 6-1 over Karen Hansen), and fourth singles (Alana Marcu, 6-1, 6-1 over Georgia Bushell). The matches at fifth and sixth singles were halted due to the team score having been decided. In those matches, Boston University's Elisa Glas led Claire Shean 6-3, 4-1, and the Terriers' Aimee Charest led Lauren Conching 6-2, 3-0 at fifth and sixth singles respectively.

This will be the first meeting between Binghamton and Boston University.

The America East Tennis Championship utilizes a format of three doubles matches and six singles matches. Doubles matches are played first using eight-game pro sets with a 12-point tie-break at eight games all. The team winning two or more of the doubles matches receives one point in the team scoring. The doubles matches are followed by the singles matches using a best two-of-three sets format. Each singles match is worth one point. A minimum of four points is required to win the team match.
