LEXINGTON, Va. – Two meet records fell, and Ashley Gutshall from UMBC punched her ticket to the NCAA Championship meet in the 50 free on Day 2 of the #AESD Championship Meet.
In the women’s competition, Bryant contiunes to top the leaderboard with 310 points, ahead of New Hampshire’s 256 and Vermont’s 228.
On the men’s side, UMBC holds the top spot with 300 points, followed by closely by Binghamton with 280, while Bryant sits in third with 194.
Day 2 Highlights
- UMBC's Ashley Gutshall qualified for the NCAA Championship by placing first in the 50 Free, swimming a 22.25, .03 faster than the NCAA standard. In the process, she reset both the meet and conference records.
- A pair of UMBC first-years touched the wall at the same time in the men's 50 free, as Stefano Perez and Braden Weise shared the gold with a time of 19.87.
- In the women's 500 Free, New Hampshire's Lydia Hart defended her title, clocking a 4:45.90, while on the men's side, Evan Peters from Binghamton upgraded his 2024 silver medal to gold with a time of 4:25.84.
- Ruby Tonelli-Smith claimed gold in the women's 200 IM with a time of 2:02, leading four Bulldogs into the finals.
- In the men's 200 IM, Cam Stetzer successfully defended his title, touching the wall first in 1:47.46.
- Megan Beasley stood atop the podium for the first time in her career in the women's 3-meter dive with a score of 276.15.
- The Vermont women out-touched New Hampshire, 1:32.32 to 1:32.62, in the 200 free relay to conclude the women's day 2 portion of the meet.
- For the second time in as many days, UMBC won the final event of the night, this time in meet and league record fashion, swimming a 1:18.65 in the 200 free relay.
