LEXINGTON, Va. – The 2026 America East Swimming & Diving Championships got underway Wednesday on the campus of Virginia Military Institute, with eight events taking place. In the first final of the meet, the Bulldog's women’s 200 Medley Relay clocked a new meet, conference, and pool record time of 1:39.62, and Bryant’s men’s 1-meter diver, Christopher Buonocore, claimed a meet record of his own. Following the opening day of competition, UMBC leads on the men’s side, while Bryant sits in first place on the women’s side.
On the women’s side, Bryant leads with 114 points, followed by UMBC with 96 points, and New Hampshire rounds out the top three with 94 points.
On the men’s side, UMBC leads with 125 points, while Binghamton is in second with 115 points and Bryant rounds out the top three with 87 points.
Day 1 Highlights
- The defending women’s 200 medley relay champions, Bryant, swam to a pool, meet, and conference record time of 1:39.62.
- The Retrievers repeated as champions in the men’s 200 medley relay, touching the wall in 1:26.85.
- Bryant’s Christopher Buonocore upgraded his 2025 bronze medal in the 3-meter dive to gold with a meet-record score of 348.20
- The 2025 #AESD Most Outstanding Diver of the Meet, Grace Blume of New Hampshire, continued her success by winning the 1-meter dive for the second year in a row, scoring 278.5.
- The women of New Hampshire out-touched Bryant, 7:20.52 to 7:20.92, in the finals of the 800 free relay.
- The UMBC men won the final event of the night, the 800 free relay, touching the wall first in 6:29.27 to finish more than three seconds ahead of second place.
