Top Seed Binghamton Highlights #AESB Bracket

BOSTON – Following one of the most impressive conference seasons in recent memory regular season champion Binghamton will host next week’s America East softball tournament. It is the Bearcats first outright title and No. 1 seed since 2017.
 
Binghamton went 16-2 in league play, the best regular season record since UAlbany went 17-2 in 2004. The Bearcats set new conference single-season records with 35 home runs and 313 total bases while hitting .347 as a team with a 2.48 team ERA.
 
UMBC earned the No. 2 after a strong finish to the year with a 13-8 overall record and the only team to play all 21 conference game. UAlbany came in at No. 3 with a 9-8 mark, while Bryant captured the No. 4 seed with its 10-10 record. UMass Lowell (7-13) and Maine (3-17) captured the final two spots.
 
The four-day, double-elimination tournament features all six #AESB programs and will be played May 7-10 at the Binghamton Softball Complex. Binghamton last played host to the #AESB Championship back in 2022, as UMBC won its third straight title.
 
The tournament begins on Wednesday with No. 4 Bryant facing No. No. 5 UMass Lowell at 11.m. and No. 3 UAlbany taking on No. 6 Maine at 1:30 p.m. The two losing teams will play an elimination game at 4 p.m. The top seeds, No. 1 UAlbany and No. 2 UMBC, will be in action on Thursday, along with another elimination game. Three more games will be played Friday while the championship games will be played on Saturday. The league champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Softball Championship.
