#AEWLAX Week 9: UMass Lowell Takes Sole Possession of First

BOSTON –UMass Lowell took down previously unbeaten UMBC, 16-12, to grab sole possession of first place in the league standings this past weekend.

In a battle of unbeaten teams, UMass Lowell came out on top, defeating UMBC 16-12 to remain the only undefeated team in #AEWLAX play. Sophomore Jillian Goldie led the way for the Riverhawks, setting a program record with nine points on six goals and three assists in the win.
Binghamton earned its first league victory of the season, downing Vermont 12-8. Tied 8-8 heading into the final quarter, the Bearcats shut out the Catamounts and finished strong with a 4-0 run to secure the win.
UAlbany also picked up a dominant conference win, taking down New Hampshire 17-4. The Great Danes were powered by Paisley Cook’s conference-record 20 draw control wins. Cook also added one goal and one assist, finishing with two points on the day.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jillian Goldie, UMass Lowell – So., Midfield, Owen Sound, Ontario
  • Goldie recorded a UMass Lowell program-record nine points on the day.
  • The sophomore scored a career-high six goals and added three assists.
  • This is her first #AEWLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.

Defensive Player of the Week
Mackenzie Salentre, UAlbany – Sr., Defense, Prior Lake, Minn.
  • Salentre helped limit the Wildcats to just four goals in the Great Danes’ 17–4 victory.
  • The senior caused two turnovers and collected three ground balls.
  • This is her first #AEWLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Sofia Salgado, Binghamton – Gr., Goalkeeper, Wading River, N.Y.
  • Salgado recorded eight saves in the Bearcats’ 12–8 victory over Vermont.
  • She helped blank the Catamounts' offense in the fourth quarter, propelling Binghamton to their first conference win of the season.
  • This is her first #AEWLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season.

Rookie of the Week
Madison Carter, UMass Lowell – Fr., Defense, Baltimore, Md.
  • Carter earned the start and played a crucial role in the defense to hand UMBC their first conference loss of the year.
  • This is her first #AEWLAX Rookie of the Week honor this season.
