#AESB Week 11: Binghamton and UAlbany Secure Dominant Sweeps

BOSTON – With only two weekends left in the regular season, Binghamton and UAlbany secured sweeps over the weekend, keeping hopes alive to repeat as Regular Season Champions.

For the third consecutive weekend Binghamton went undefeated and they extended their win streak to eight games with three victories against UMass Lowell. The Bearcats opened up the weekend with two shutout games, taking down the River Hawks 5-0 and 14-0. Binghamton was able to complete the sweep with a 3-1 victory on Saturday. Binghamton has the chance to clinch the regular season title this week as they face second-place UMBC.

UAlbany was able to secure three big wins over Maine last weekend. The Great Danes are currently 9-4 and are third in conference standings, but only two games out of first. Saturday featured two close games again the Black Bears, as UAlbany was able to pull away with the wins, 7-2 and 5-3. Returning to the diamond Sunday, UAlbany came out swinging scoring four runs in the second inning and six in the third to finish the sweep in five innings.

UMBC and Bryant had competitive weekends as the Retrievers went 2-1 and are now 11-4 in conference play. The teams each secured a win on Saturday before UMBC was able to take the series with a 14-2 win on Saturday. UMBC had 11 hits with 14 RBI in the victory.

Conference play continues this weekend as Maine hosts UMass Lowell, Binghamton takes on UMBC, and UAlbany travels to Bryant starting Saturday.

Brianna Roberts, Binghamton – Jr., Pitcher, Monroe, N.Y.
  • Went 1-0 with a save in 9.0 scoreless innings pitched.
  • Only allowed two hits and 11 strikeouts.
  • This is Roberts’s third #AESB Pitcher of the Week honor this season.
Rookie of the Week
Hailey Errichiello, UAlbany – Fr., Pitcher, Roxbury, N.J.
  • Threw 3.2 scoreless innings of relief in two appearances with 6 strikeouts last weekend.
  • Earned the win against Maine with 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out five batters.
  • This is Errichiello’s first career #AESB Rookie of the Week honor.
