BOSTON –Bryant and UMBC clinched their spots in the upcoming #AEWLAX Tournament, leaving one spot left to fill the field. The regular season championship is still to be determined heading into the final weekend of play.
Two of the games were decided by two goals or fewer, as Bryant took down Vermont, 16-14, while Binghamton edged New Hampshire, 18-17. UAlbany jumped out to a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter against UMBC and never relinquished it, going on to win 14-8.
This upcoming Saturday, the top two teams in the league standings, UMass Lowell and Bryant, will face off in a winner-take-all match for the No. 1 seed and the right to host the #AEWLAX Tournament.
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of the #AEWLAX games this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Offensive Player of the Week
Emily DeGeorge, Bryant – Jr., Attack, Feeding Hills, Mass.
- DeGeorge recorded a game-high five goals and added two assists to help the Bulldogs secure a spot in the #AEWLAX Tournament.
- This is DeGeorge’s first #AEWLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor this season
Defensive Player of the Week
Kaelynn O'Brien, Bryant – So., Defense, Lynbrook, N.Y.
- O’Brien anchored the Bulldogs’ defense, causing four turnovers.
- The sophomore defender also collected three ground balls and recorded four draw controls.
- This is O’brien’s second #AEWLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor this season
Rookie of the Week
Emily Knapp, UMBC – Fr., Attack, Abingdon, Md.
- Knapp recorded four goals and added an assist for five points on the day against the Great Danes.
- This is Knapp’s fifth #AEWLAX Rookie of the Week honor this season
Goalkeeper of the Week
Alexa Kuhn, UMass Lowell – So., Goalkeeper, Rocky Point, N.Y.
- Kuhn tied her career high with 16 saves against Dartmouth.
- The sophomore goalkeeper also picked up five ground balls for the River Hawks.
- This is Kuhn’s fifth #AEWLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season
