#AESB Week 7: Bryant Starts Conference Play 3-0

BOSTON – In the first weekend of conference play, Bryant took over first with a three-game sweep of  Maine while Binghamton was a perfect 2-0 against defending champion UAlbany. UMBC took 2 of 3 from UMass Lowell.

The Bulldogs were able to secure two wins over Maine on Saturday, including a 9-8 victory in the nightcap as Amira Rainer walked it off with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh. They finished the sweep off with a 13-2 victory.

Binghamton took down the Great Danes 12-4 and 14-2 in a pair of 5-inning contests as the Bearcat offense couldn't be stopped. Sunday's scheduled game was canceled. In the final series of the weekend, UMBC and UMass Lowell spit Saturday's doubleheader. The Retrievers secured a 1-0 win in game one, but the River Hawks returned the favor with a 1-0 win later that day. UMBC took the series with a 4-2 victory on Sunday.

Conference play continues this weekend as Maine travels to UMass Lowell, Bryant takes on UAlbany, and Binghamton faces UMBC.

Rookie of the Week
Rachel Carey, Binghamton– Fr., Infield, Bridgeville, Del.
  • Had a 2.333 OPS, hitting .833 (5-for-6) with a HR, 2B, and 5 RBI.
  • This is Carey’s second career #AESB Rookie of the Week honor.
