#AEWLAX Week 7: UMBC, UMass Lowell Move to 2-0 in Conference Play

BOSTON – UMBC and UMass Lowell both recorded #AEWLAX wins to move to 2-0 in league play, while Bryant earned its first conference win of the season by taking down the defending champions.

The Retrievers defeated New Hampshire 20-11, thanks in part to Grace Blume's six goals, while the River Hawks pulled off a fourth-quarter comeback, outscoring Vermont 5-2 in the final 15 minutes. UMass Lowell's Audra Hansen netted the game-winning goal with three seconds on the clock in their 14-13 victory.

The Bulldogs poured in 17 goals and held Binghamton to six as Bryant's Sam Centofnate turned away 16 shots with.

In non-league play, Vermont shut out Central Connecticut 24-0, while UAlbany defeated Robert Morris 19-7.

#AEWLAX Weekly Award Winners – March 24
Offensive Player of the Week
Isabelle Katter, Bryant- Sr., Attack, Devens, MA
  • Katter logged two goals, including the game-winning goal, in the Bulldogs 17-6 victory
  • The senior attacker dished out a game-high six assists to end the contest with eight points

Defensive Player of the Week
Jessica Tosone, Bryant- Jr., Defense, Walpole, MA
  • Tosone anchored the defense accounting for five ground balls, three caused turnovers, and one draw control against Binghamton
  • The Junior helped the defense hold the Bearcats to six goals

Goalkeeper of the Week
Sam Centofante, Bryant- Gr. Goalkeeper, Valley Forge, Pa.
  • Centofante turned away 16 shots while allowing just six against Binghamton, posting a 72.7 save percentage
  • The graduate-student goalkeeper also chipped in with two ground balls and caused one turnover in the Bulldogs 17-6 win

Rookie of the Week
Tess Curtis, UMBC - Fr., Midfield, Owings Mills, Md
  • Curtis recorded three goals for the Retrievers in their 20-11 win over New Hampshire
  • The first-year’s three goals tied her season high
