BOSTON – A successful weekend for America East softball programs as all teams who competed were able to pick up multiple wins.
Bryant finished the week with a 5-3 win over Bethune-Cookman University. The Great Danes started the weekend strong going 2-0 on Friday, defeating Army and Mount St. Mary’s. UAlbany would go on to secure another win, finishing the weekend 3-1 while sweeping all #AESB honors. UMBC went 3-2 over the weekend. The Retrievers went 2-0 against Colgate and took down Canisius 8-6 on Saturday.
The Black Bears secured back-to-back wins over Merrimack on Saturday as Maine improves to 6-14 overall. Binghamton went 2-1 against Mercer University and remain at the top of the America East standings with a 14-9 record.
All six teams are in action this weekend. Conference play begins Saturday as Maine takes on Bryant, UMBC hosts UAlbany, UMass Lowell faces Binghamton. Each team is scheduled to play three times.

Player of the Week
Taylor Quinn, UAlbany – So., Catcher/Outfield, Latham, N.Y.
- Slashed .400/.438/.667 in a 3-1 week for UAlbany.
- Went 6-15 at the plate, including four RBI and five runs.
- This is Quinn’s first career #AESB Player of the Week honor.
Pitcher of the Week
Hayley Wieczerzak, UAlbany – Fr., Pitcher, North Brunswick, N.J.
- Recorded a 1.40 ERA over 10 IP with 20 strikeouts.
- Threw a one-hit shutout in a 6-inning win over Mount St. Mary’s with 15 strikeouts and just one walk.
- This is Wieczerzak’s second #AESB Pitcher of the Week honor in a row.
Rookie of the Week
Ava Beal, UAlbany – Fr., Outfield, Quakertown, Pa.
- Had a .800 OPS with six hits in 15 at-bats, plus three RBI and two runs scored.
- This is Beal’s first career #AESB Rookie of the Week honor.
