#AESB Week 5: Multiple Teams Post Wins

BOSTON – Week five of the season started with some big wins from our #AESB programs. Binghamton started the weekend with a 8-7 win over Fordham while UMass Lowell and UMBC both picked up wins on Friday. UAlbany, Maine, and Binghamton were also able to leave the weekend with victories.  

UAlbany went 2-0 against Manhattan over the weekend. Winning 3-2 in nine innings and followed it up with a 5-2 victory. The Black Bears had a successful Saturday, taking down Sacred Heart 9-0 and Yale 3-0. Binghamton won two of their five games at the James Madison Invitational over the weekend. The Bearcats went a perfect 2-0 against Fordham and currently own the best mark in the league at 12-8, while Bryant has six wins.

Player of the Week
Jerzie Nutile, UMBC – Sr., Pitcher, Pasadena, MD.
  • Had a 2.000 OPS hitting .500 with 4 X-base hits, including three home runs.
  • Drove in six runs over the weekend.
  • This is Nutile’s first career #AESB Player of the Week honor.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Hayley Wieczerzak, UAlbany – Fr., Pitcher, North Brunswick, N.J.
  • Recorded a 1.56 ERA, allowing just three hits over 9.0 IP.
  • Pitched 11 strikeouts in 5-2 win over Manhattan, totaled 14 strikeouts on the weekend.
  • This is Wieczerzak’s first career #AESB Pitcher of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Rachel Carey, Binghamton – Fr., Infield, Bridgeville, Del.
  • Slashed .412/.444/.912 with three home runs and nine RBI.
  • Finished the weekend with a .941 slugging percentage, including a grand slam.
  • This is Carey’s first career #AESB Rookie of the Week honor.
