Retriever Men Extend Lead, Vermont Women Take Over After #AESD Day 2

Lexington, Va. - #AESD swimmers and divers returned to the pool on the campus of Virginia Military Institute today for the second day of the 2025 America East Swimming & Diving Championship.

On the men’s side, UMBC leads with a score of 325.5. Binghamton follows with 284 in second place and Bryant finishes the top three with 241.5 points.

On the women’s side, defending champion Vermont leads the pack with 259 points, while New Hampshire is second with 239 points and rounding out the top three is Bryant with 230.

Day 2 Highlights

  • New Hampshire first-year Lydia Hart made a statement in the #AESD Championship meet debut. She touched the wall first in the prelims of the 500 Free in a conference, meet and pool record fashion before resetting those records in the final with a time of 4:42.12
  • Ilias El Fallaki from NJIT set a conference, pool and meet record in the men’s 500 Free in his first #AESD appearance
  • Vermont’s Hally Laney earned gold in the women’s 200 IM (2:01.65) , while Binghamton’s Cam Stetzer swam his way to a gold medal on the men’s side (1:48.71)
  • Binghamton senior Eli Lanfear won the men’s 50 Free for the second-straight year, and Ashley Gutshall from UMBC set a meet and pool record on the women’s side touching the wall in 22.65
  • Isaac Poole from UMBC completed his diving sweep standing on top of the podium in the men’s 3-meter dive after grabbing first in the 1-meter dive last night. The Retrievers had 5 men completed in the diving finals
  • Vermont’s women’s team of Fazio, Layton,  House and Laney took home gold with a time of 1:32.17 in the 200 yard free relay, setting a new conference, meet and pool record.
  • In the men’s 200 yard free relay, Bryant earned gold after the Retrievers were disqualified.
