Retriever Men, Wildcat Women off to a Fast Start After #AESD Day 1

LEXINGTON, Va. – The 2025 America East Swimming & Diving Championships got underway on Wednesday from the campus of Virginia Military Institute with eight events taking place. Following the opening day of competition, UMBC leads on the men’s side and New Hampshire is first on the women’s side. 
 
COMPLETE DAY 1 RESULTS 
  
On the men’s side, UMBC leads with a score of 146 thanks to one gold medal, while Binghamton is in second with 106 points and Bryant rounds out the top three with 88. 
  
For the women, New Hampshire is up front with 120 points, Bryant follows behind with 97 points, and UMBC completes the top 3 with 89 points 

Day 1 Highlights 

  • The Retrievers took home gold in both the men’s 1-meter dive and women's 3-meter dive with Isaac Poole (344.40) and Ember Stennett (288.25), respectively. Earlier in the prelims, Poole posted a meet and conference record, 355.95, to head into the finals as the top seed, while Stennett’s 288.25 in the finals was good for a meet record. 

  • The Bryant women’s 200 medley swam their way to a pool-record 1:41.09 

  • The UMBC men dipped under the pool and meet record in the 200-medley posting a time of 1:26.07 

  • Last year's runner-up in the women’s 800 free relay, New Hampshire, upgraded their silver to gold touching the wall first in a pool-record 7:21, followed by Vermont in 7:24.79 

  • The Binghamton men won the last event of the night, the 800 free, touching the wall first in 6:30.32 to finished ahead of Bryant in 6:32.55
