BOSTON - The top seed in the 2024 America East Softball Championship Championship was uncertain going into the final day of the regular season, but an impressive finish from UAlbany gave them the No. 1 Seed and a share of the #AESB Regular Season Championship for the first time since 2018. They shared the honor with Binghamton, who secured a share of its first title since 2017. 
 
Both teams finished tied atop the standings at 14-6, but UAlbany earned the top seed due to its 2-1 record against the Bearcats during the regular season. Bryant is the No. 3 seed with a 14-7 record, while defending champion UMBC is fourth. UMass Lowell and Maine round out the field at No. 5 and No. 6.
 
The four-day, double-elimination tournament features all six #AESB programs and will be played May 8-11 at the Maine Softball Complex. The Black Bears last played host to the #AESB Championship back in 2010. 
 
UAlbany and Binghamon will both enjoy first-round byes. UAlbany’s sweep of Maine secured the program’s fifth regular season title, while Binghamton earned a share of its third title with its win over UMass Lowell on Saturday.
 
The tournament begins on Wednesday with No. 4 UMBC facing No. 5 UMass Lowell at 11 a.m. and No. 3 Bryant taking on No. 6 Maine at 1:30 p.m. The two losing teams will play an elimination game at 4 p.m. The top seeds, No. 1 UAlbany and No. 2 Binghamton, will be in action on Thursday, along with another elimination game. Three more games will be played Friday while the championship games will be played on Saturday. The league champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Softball Championship.
