#AESB Combines for 15 Victories in Week 6

Boston, MA - #AESB teams found the win column going up against some Big 10 schools this week. Bryant led off a successful week going 6-0, starting off with a mid-week sweep against Yale in their double header. The Bulldogs success then continued beating Lafayette and Purdue fort Wayne on Friday. The winning streak continued into the weekend with Bryant beating Big 10 rivals Maryland 5-3, and then closed out their week by defeating Fairfield 6-1. UMBC hosted a Spring Invite where they beat Niagara 11-3, then went on the next day to take down Big 10 foes Wisconsin 4-3 and then defeated the Badgers again the next day 7-5. UAlbany went 3-4 this weekend competing at UMBC’s Spring Invite, finding two wins against Niagara and also taking one from Wisconsin. Binghamton closed out the weeknd also going 3-4 with wins against Lehigh and two from Cornell.

Player of the Week 
Ashley Della Guardia, UMBC - Sr., First Base, Phoenixville, PA
  • Slashed .500/.938/1.467 over 5 games with 2 homers, 6 RBI, and 5 runs scores.
  • Had the go-ahead RBI hit in both victories over Wisconsin.
 
Co-Pitcher of the Week 
Wendi Hammond, UAlbany - Gr., Pitcher, Chemung, NY
  • Hammond had a 0.00 ERA on the weekend and did not allow any earned runs. 
  • Struck out 6 on the weekend and pitched a no-hitter in the Great Danes’ win over  Wisconsin.
 
Co-Pitcher of the Week 
Olivia Kennedy, Binghamton - So., Pitcher, Chenango Forks, NY 
  • Threw a six-hit shutout in the Bearcats win against Cornell. 
  • Struck out 6 while keeping a 0.00 ERA
 
Rookie of the Week 
Sam Rohwer, Bryant - Fr., Infield, Mukilteo, WA
  • Rohwer accumulated a .474 batting average helping the Bulldogs to a 6-0 week.
  • She had 9 hits, 5 RBI, 2 doubles, and 2 home runs, slugging .895.
