#AEWLAX Week 5: UMass Lowell Remains Perfect

BOSTON – UMass Lowell continued its best season in program history, improving to 8-0 overall, while Bryant and UMBC also picked up victories this past week.

The River Hawks are one of just six undefeated teams left in the nation and are tied with Michigan for the top record at 8-0. This past week they traveled south, dispatching Gardner-Webb 21-2 and Presbyterian 15-4. Bryant came through with a 10-4 victory over Quinnipiac, while UMBC took down Manhattan 17-6. UAlbany played tough against No. 1 Northwestern, but came up short, 25-8.

Conference play begins this weekend as five teams currently hold a record of .500 or better. UMass Lowell is unbeaten while Vermont, Bryant and UMBC are all 5-3. Binghamton is 4-4, while UAlbany is just 1-6, but has faced three of the top four teams in the nation (Northwestern, Boston College, James Madison) and has played the fifth toughest schedule in the country after this weekend.

In game action, UAlbany welcomes Binghamton in a rematch of last year’s championship, while Bryant hosts UMBC. Vermont travels to UNH, while UMass Lowell faces its toughest test of the season at #23 Brown.

The preseason poll was announced on January 17.
