#AEWLAX Week 2: Six Programs Earn Wins Last Week

BOSTON – Bryant and UMass Lowell secured a pair of wins last week as six different teams came away with victories in a strong week for #AEWLAX action.
 
The Bulldogs opened the week with a 13-10 win over Holy Cross and then doubled up Sacred Heart 16-8. The River Hawks improved to 3-0 by blowing out Merrimack 18-9 and then taking down LIU 14-10. Vermont was also unbeaten last week as they outscored Merrimack 8-0 in the second half for a 10-6 lead.

   
The preseason poll was announced on January 17.
 
Fans will once again be able to watch the majority of the #AEWLAX this season. Select games will air on The AE on ESPN while others will air on AmericaEast.TV. Those games will be available on computers, OTT devices and the brand new America East app, which is available on all IOS and Android devices and can be found by searching ‘America East Conference’ in app stores.

#AEWLAX Weekly Award Winners – Feb. 19
Offensive Player of the Week
Ava Vasile, Vermont – Gr., Attack, Milford, Mass.
  • Recorded six goals, six draws and two ground balls in a 10-6 win over Merrimack.
  • Tallied all six goals in the second half as UVM shut out the Warriors 8-0.
  • This is Vasile’s third career #AEWLAX Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Sam Centofante, Bryant – Sr., Goalkeeper, Valley Forge, PA
  • Earned a pair of victories in net, playing 109:46 with 14 goals allowed and 13 saves.
  • Posted eight saves and three ground balls in a 13-10 victory at Holy Cross.
  • Gave up just four goals in 49:46 with five saves to earn a win over Sacred Heart.
  • This is Centofante’s first career #AEWLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jillian Goldie, UMass Lowell – Fr., Midfield, Owen Sound, Ontario
  • Finished with 11 points, on seven goals and four assists in a 2-0 week.
  • Had a career-high seven points on five goals and two assists in a 18-9 win over Merrimack.
  • Came through with two goals and two assists, and one caused turnover in a 14-10 win over LIU.
  • This is Goldie’s first career #AEWLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
