Lexington, Va. – It was a wild Friday night on the campus of Virginia Military Institute as the Vermont women had a dominant evening to take over first, while Binghamton extended its advantage over Bryant.
The Catamounts totaled 228 points on Friday night, outscoring New Hampshire 228-158 to grab a 32-point lead, 483-451, going into the final day. Bryant is just a single point behind UNH with 450 points.
On the men’s side the Bearcat depth shined as they stretched their lead to 558.5 points, while Bryant is in second with 509.5 points. UMBC is in third with 349 points, while NJIT is fourth.
COMPLETE DAY 3 RESULTS
Day 3 Highlights:
- Ella Guilfoil earned her second individual gold, claiming the 400 IM by over seven second with her time of 4:17.42 and outpacing a pair of Catamounts.
- Bryant sophomore Aidan Trenery just out-touched Ethan Griffith from VMI with a time of 3:58.44 for his first career gold.
- In the 100 fly, Hally Laney repeated as champion thanks to a school-record time of 54.58, while on the men’s side Oliver Gassmann won his third straight title. He claimed it by more than half a second with his time of 46.94.
- UMBC’s Bruna de Padua came through with her gold medal, in the 200 free thanks to her time of 1:48.97. In the men’s 200 free, Conner Lofstrom secured the victory with a 1:36.75.
- Courtney Moane had an impressive final lap to win the 100 break by nearly a second with her time of 1:02.32.
- In the men’s 100 breast, Daniel Nicusan became the first America East swimmer to break 53 second, taking down his own conference record in 52.57. The time is an NCAA B cut
- Reagan Lord also broke her own conference record, finishing the 100 back in 53.95 seconds. In the prelims she had a 54.21, breaking Amy Perrault’s record of 54.34 let back in 2011. It was the old individual record in the conference.
- The top three swimmers in the 100 back were separated by just 0.27 seconds as Griffin Lajoie claimed his first career gold medal.
- Chris Buonocore made it a clean sweep of diving events by taking the 1-meter with a score of 296.55, winning by over 30 points.
- Binghamton took gold in the women’s 400 medley relay with a time of 3:43.06 while Bryant secured first in the men’s 400 medley relay in 3:12.99.
