AE Weekend Preview: Sept. 7-10

BOSTON – It’s another busy non-conference weekend with over 60 contests and races from Thursday to Sunday and we break down some of the top matchups during the weekend.
 
Men’s Soccer – Complete Schedule
On Friday UNH will travel to #7 Florida International at 7 p.m. on ESPN+, in a rematch of the team’s NCAA Second Round matchup last fall. FIU ended the Wildcats’ season in 12 rounds of PK’s after being tied 2-2 through a pair of overtimes. UNH is coming off a 1-0 defeat against Cornell and hasn’t lost back-to-back games since the start of last season.  
 
#12 Vermont (3-1) looks to keep up its strong start to the year when the team hosts Lehigh on Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. Bryant is one of five 4-0 teams left in the nation and looks to stay perfect when they travel to Iona for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, while UMBC is also unbeaten this year at 3-0-1 and hosts Fordham on Friday as they look to stay perfect.
 
 Field Hockey – Complete Schedule
A pair of teams face top-ranked opponents this weekend, highlighted by 2-1 UMass Lowell heading to the Midwest for a battle with #1 Iowa on BIG10+. The River Hawks have a pair of big wins, but have yet to beat a ranked team this year. Maine, meanwhile, welcomes #3 Northwestern on Friday at 2 p.m. and then #20 UMass on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. with both games on ESPN+.
 
Defending conference champion UAlbany hosts Hofstra and then travels to Cornell this week while Stanford faces #18 Ohio State on the road this Sunday at 1 p.m. California looks to build off its win against #5 Penn State last weekend as the Golden Bears play at LIU and against Stonehill. UNH, meanwhile, travels to Providence seeking its fourth win of the year.
 
Volleyball – Complete Schedule
UMBC could make a statement this weekend when it hosts Princeton, Howard and Virginia. Both Princeton and Howard claimed conference regular season titles in their respective leagues last year, while Virginia out of the ACC is always a tough foe. The Retrievers, meanwhile, are 3-2 and are coming a pair of dominant wins last weekend thanks in part to #AEVB Setter of the Week Aysia Miller.
 
UNH is currently atop the #AEVB standings at 5-2 and heads down to Virginia this weekend for matches against Cal Poly, VCU and James Madison. Bryant is 5-3 this season and will play three matches in Providence against Connecticut State, St. Peter’s and the Friars. Binghamton snapped a three-match losing streak this week and looked to add to their win total with matches against FDU, Lehigh and Delaware State.
 
Women’s Soccer – Complete Schedule
Women’s Soccer gets underway on Thursday with seven matchups and then nine more on Sunday. Maine is the lone remaining unbeaten team in the conference with a 3-0-3 record and faces off against Boston University & UIC on the road this weekend. BU is 3-1-1 against the America East since 2021, while the Black Bears have played to 1-1 draws in three of their past four contests as they look for a win at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
 
NJIT is 3-1-2, on a two-game win streak and at home against La Salle and Wagner this weekend. Vermont is riding a four-game win streak and plays at Holy Cross Thursday before hosting Stonehill on Sunday. Binghamton looks for a big win when it hosts Maryland on Sunday, and UMass Lowell (0-3-3) seeks its first week of the year against Holy Cross on Sunday. Reigning champion UNH hosts Merrimack on Thursday and then faces BU on Sunday.
 
Cross Country - Complete Schedule
New Hampshire opens the weekend of cross country action at the Friar Invitational. Four more teams are in action on Saturday, headlined by Bryant hosting is Nassaney Invitational. The Vermont women are at Dartmouth, while NJIT and UMBC compete at the Fordham Fiasco and Navy Invitational respectively.
