#AEWLAX Week 11: UAlbany Clinches Top Seed

BOSTON – UAlbany claimed a share of their first regular season title since 2014 and clinched the top overall seed with the team’s victory over New Hampshire on Saturday. Vermont, meanwhile, clinched a spot in the tournament field and Binghamton closed off conference play with a win.

The Great Danes jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and finished with a 16-11 victory over the Wildcats. Binghamton concluded its best regular season in program history, finishing 5-1 with its 16-8 win against UMass Lowell. Vermont came back from trailing by seven goals to upend UMBC 12-10 and secure their spot in the #AEWLAX field.

Going into the final weekend of action, Bryant, UMBC and New Hampshire all have a chance to earn the final spot in the #AEWLAX Tournament. Bryant is 2-3 and faces UAlbany, while UMBC (1-3) and UNH (2-3) square off against each other. A UNH victory would clinch it, while Bryant would be in with a win and a UNH loss. Should all three teams finish with matching 2-4 records, the tiebreak would be determined by goal differential as all three teams went 1-1 against each other and finished with the same records against the other four teams in the conference.

The preseason poll was announced on January 26.
